Conditions were ripe for wildfires yesterday in Indiana County, according to the National Weather Service. However some people may not have heeded that notice as there were three more brush fires reported on Monday.
The first brush fire was reported at 3:11 PM yesterday with a fire on Anthony Run Road in Armstrong Township. Elderton Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched. The second was at 3:43 PM on Stutzman Road in East Wheatfield Township, with Armagh and Clyde fire departments called out at the time. The third call was on Mentcle Drive in Pine Township at 6:37 PM. Pine Township, Nicktown, and Spangler fire departments, Citizens Ambulance and the RIT team were dispatched to that scene.
No details were released on any of these fires. This brings the total number of brush fires in Indiana County this year to 71.
