Democrats have held onto the majority in the State House of Representatives.
The race for the state house came down to one final race that was being counted in Cambria County, but by a margin of 864 votes, Democrat Frank Burns retained his seat for the 72nd District over Republican challenger Amy Bradley. The count took so long as the county experienced problems with their voting machines on election day. After switching to paper ballots and experiencing lengthy delays, a judge allowed Cambria County to extend voting hours to 10 PM. The vote count was also delayed due to misprinted ballots that could not be scanned by machines and needed to be counted by hand.
Meanwhile, the Republican party will retain control of the PA Senate, with all Republican incumbents re-elected to office and some others winning races across the state. The split is 28-22.
Members of the House and Senate will be sworn in in January.
