Route 954 in Washington Township reopened late this morning after clearing a school bus that slid off the road and fell into a ditch.
Indiana County 911 reported the crash at 8:02 this morning. Plumville and Creekside fire departments were dispatched at the time, along with Citizens’ Ambulance and State Police. Initial reports from the state police say a bus from the Indiana School District had slid off the road and into a ditch a half-mile away from the Seeds of Faith Christian Academy.
Indiana School District Superintendent Michael Vuckovich said that 12 students from Seeds of Faith were on board at the time. As the school was notifying parents, crews were able to help in getting the kids out. There were no reported injuries in the crash, and Seeds of Faith used their activity van to transport the kids the rest of the way to school. Vuckovich said he was appreciative of everyone’s effort to make sure the students were safe.
PennDOT closed Route 954 in both directions for about three hours this morning while crews were on-scene.
