Even though Monday’s combined agenda consisted mostly of policy and personnel matters, Marion Center Business Manager Rick Martini alerted the board that the 2025-26 budget process will begin soon.
Martini said the internal part of the process will begin “immediately,” and he hopes to present the first draft at either December or January’s board meeting. He advised, though, that the district may not see as much state funding that they had hoped for, even though Governor Shapiro focused heavily on increasing public education spending in his budget.
In other business, members of the Marion Center boys’ and girls’ cross country teams were honored for their efforts in the fall sports season. The girls claimed the Heritage Conference championship after a perfect 8-0 regular season, while the boys finished second in the conference and in District 6. High School Assistant Principal Mark Margolis also commended the Stinger football, volleyball and cheer teams on outstanding seasons.
