State police say 34-year-old Matthew James Wilson of Kittanning, who was wanted for home improvement fraud charges, was taken into custody.
Wilson reportedly turned himself in to police on Wednesday and was arraigned in front of District Judge Robert Bell, Sr.
Two felony charges of home improvement fraud and one felony charge of theft by deception were filed after a member of the Troop A barracks investigated an incident of theft in Burrell Township in July 2023. A 55-year-old woman said she saw an advertisement for Nxt Gen Electrical Services, LLC., and met with the owner, later identified as Wilson, regarding her interest in purchasing a backup generator at her home. Once a verbal agreement was reached, the woman allegedly paid Wilson $6,000 in cash for the purchase and installation, but he did not follow through on that agreement and reportedly did not respond when she contacted him.
Bail was set at $20,000 and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for December 4 at 10:45 a.m.
