State police are continuing to investigate a series of thefts from motor vehicles in Indiana County.
On November 17th, troopers from the Indiana Barracks were dispatched for a report of a stolen handgun and a stolen purse with several credit cards and forms of identification. It was determined that two of the stolen credit cards were used at a Sheetz convenience store and Police were able to find the suspects, who were identified as only an 18-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy.
In a consent search of a home in White Township, two 9mm handguns were found along with ammunition. One of the guns was reported stolen and the other had an obliterated serial number. Police also found the stolen purse with credit cards and identification along with marijuana. It appeared that the items were stolen from unlocked cars in the White Township area. Charges are pending the results of an investigation.
Residents are reminded to lock their cars and avoid storing firearms and valuables in their cars. Anyone who had items stolen from their vehicle should call police at 724-357-1960.
