The PA Turnpike is gearing up for some of the busiest travel days of the year.
Starting today and going through Sunday, 3.41 million drivers are expected to use the turnpike to get to their holiday celebrations, which is slightly higher than last year’s predictions. Today, around 635,000 people will take the toll road. But the busiest travel day is expected to be tomorrow, when 680,000 drivers will be on the road. The lowest day is Thanksgiving day itself with 495,000 drivers. For the rest of the weekend, around 550,000 drivers are anticipated each day.
Road work has already been suspended on the turnpike to make sure that as many travel lanes as possible are open. That work will resume at 11 PM on Sunday, December 1st. There will also be increased patrols by state police during that time.
