Indiana County’s unemployment rate jumped six-tenths of a percentage point over the month of October.
The new rate is 4.6%. To compare, Westmoreland County has a 3.9% unemployment rate, while Cambria County is at 4.1%. Jefferson County is at 4.2%, Clearfield County is 4.3%, and Armstrong county tied with Indiana for the highest rate in the area with 4.6%.
The lowest unemployment rate in the state is 2.7% in both Adams and Centre Counties, while the highest rate was in Forest County at 6.2%
Over the month, statewide unemployment stayed at 3.4% while the national rate stayed at 4.1%.
Total non-farm jobs went up in Indiana County by 500 to 30,400 in October. Over the month, jobs in the nine published industry super sectors were unchanged.
