State police announced they investigated 1,075 crashes in Pennsylvania over the five-day Thanksgiving travel period.
That represents an increase over last year’s number, where 979 crashes were investigated. Police say seven people died in seven fatal crashes. One of those fatal crashes was DUI-related. 194 people were injured in the crashes across the state and there were 64 DUI crashes investigated from last Wednesday to Sunday. Police have also arrested 552 people on DUI charges. Police also issued 7,770 speeding tickets, 1,020 seat belt citations, and 124 citations for child safety seat violations.
In Troop A, which covers large portions of Indiana and Westmoreland Counties and all of Cambria and Somerset Counties, no one was killed in 46 crashes that were investigated. Nine of the crashes were DUI-related and 17 people were injured. 40 people were arrested for DUI, 536 speeding tickets were issued, 49 seatbelt citations were handed out along with five child safety seat citations.
