The White Township Supervisors heard from some citizens requesting some “no parking” signs for a portion of Maple Street last night.
The township received a petition from landowners on the Maple Street between 4th and 5th streets to request no parking signs on the north side of the street. During the meeting, Connie Readinger said that they felt the on-street parking would continue to congest the street for snow plows, and they also talked about how people are parking there to visit college friends in the wee hours of the morning. She said when they park there around 2:00 AM, the residents don’t know who is parking there, and they don’t return to their vehicles quietly, orderly or sober.
The motion to start work on an ordinance that would put no parking signs in place was tabled until the supervisors could investigate further via their “road tour” in the spring.
In other business, the proposed cell phone tower at the White Township Recreation Complex was discussed. A draft lease was sent to the Township’s solicitor for his approval before it is brought forward again to the Supervisors.
