The Blairsville-Saltsburg School Board approved the contract for their new business manager at their special meeting on Wednesday.
The new business manager, Gary A. Zuchelli, was not present at the meeting, but we did learn from acting Superintendent Jeffrey Soles that he has a lot of experience, even though this would be his first school district position. Zuchelli’s experience comes in the private sector, working for companies like Kennametal. Soles said he was definitely qualified to be an an accountant
The vote to hire came down to a 6-2 vote, with Molly Styles and Mary Whitfield each voting no. Styles felt there were better candidates out there, and Whitfield said she voted no because she wanted the position re-advertised.
The board also approved the retirement request of Blairsville Middle-High School Secretary Deborah Lutton, who has served the district since 1986. Her position will be advertised for hiring.
