UPDATE:
Sentencing hearings are going on today for two people in Indiana County Court.
47-year-old Phillip Schlereth Jr. of Northern Cambria was sentenced to 2-5 years in State Prison and ordered to pay court costs, a $500 fine and restitution totaling $120 for a charge of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. The charges came from an incident last August after undercover state troopers arranged to buy pills from him and he showed up at the meeting place along Laurel Road in Green Township with 20 Vicodin Tablets.
The sentencing hearing is still going on at this hour for 56-year-old Douglas Hays of Saltsburg, who was involved in an accident involving an Amish buggy last August on McCormick Road in West Mahoning Township. Hays fled the scene after his minivan plowed into the back of the buggy. A man and woman were sent flying from the buggy and suffered minor injuries. He’s charged with two counts of accidents involving death or injury; a single count of accidents involving damage; habitual offenders; and ten summary traffic offenses. He will also plead and be sentenced in a DUI case from last March.
The sentencing hearing for 32-year-old Ashley June Weston of Creekside was continued. She was to be sentenced for three cases, including a guilty plea for criminal use of a communication facility. That was a drug case in which charges of possession with intent to deliver will not be prosecuted. In that case, a fight erupted over drugs at an apartment in Indiana Borough. One man was accused of holding a knife to the throat of another and of throwing bleach in his face. When police arrived, they found cocaine and heroin where Weston was seated.
