Carolyn “Carrie” R. (Ludwig) Smith, 83 of Blairsville, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. She was born March 29, 1941, in New Florence, PA, the daughter of the late Karl Ludwig and Anna (Roth) Ludwig.
Carrie worked at Blairsville S&T Bank for many years where she was more than a bank teller. She knew everyone and made you feel special because she took the time to ask and care about everyone. She was a member of the Eagles and Eastern Star. She was an avid gardener who never worked with gloves, as she felt closer to God when she worked in the dirt. Her passion for baking and cooking would go to the point that everyone who walked in her home got their favorite food even if it meant multiple food for the same meal. She also enjoyed sewing, walking the dog, and sports. Her love for her family was unending. Her life was so fulfilled with her childhood sweetheart, children, grandchildren and she exploded with joy as the family grew with many great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Ed Smith, Blairsville, PA; son, Ed Smith & wife, Vennesa, Buffalo, TX; daughter, Carrie Iwanowski & husband, Joe, Ocean City, NJ; daughter, Tammy Speal & husband, Terry, Blairsville, PA; grandchildren: Ashley (Justin), Derek (Chelsea), Tim (Rhonda), Brad (Amy), Brandon (Kailey), Brittany (Jake), Ryan (McKenzie) & Jake; great-grandchildren: Hudson, Marlowe, Hunter, Payton, Blake, Ryan, Waylon, Emrie, Avery, Blakely, Adalynn & Jackson and her sister, Theresa Fleck, NC.
