Authorities in Western Pennsylvania are reviewing security plans in light of the New Year’s morning terror attack in New Orleans.
Pittsburgh is playing host to what will likely be the city’s largest event in history with the 2026 NFL Draft. Pittsburgh Public Safety has said the attack in the French Quarter will influence the preparations for that gathering the Bureau of Police is putting together with local and federal law enforcement partners.
State Senator Jay Costa (43rd-D) says officials in Harrisburg will continue offering municipal law enforcement agencies the funding and other resources that are needed to keep people safe.
“Certainly, what happened (New Year’s Day morning) caught everyone off guard, even though steps were taken to prevent it from happening,” Costa told CBS News. “I do have confidence, with the NFL Draft, that they are taking all these precautions and safety measures into consideration,”
