State Senator Joe Pittman took the oath of office yesterday for his second full term representing all of Armstrong and Indiana Counties and portions of Westmoreland and Jefferson Counties.
During this second term, Pittman will be the PA Senate Majority Leader, making him the second highest-ranking Republican behind Kim Ward of Westmoreland County, who was named President Pro Tempore of the Senate. Both Pittman and Ward were re-elected to their positions by their fellow senators in November.
In a statement, Pittman said that his top priorities remain making sure his constituents’ needs are met, and they are served by his offices promptly and efficiently. He added that he will also work to help “advance policies and legislation to strengthen our communities, provide for family sustaining jobs and ensure Pennsylvania will remain a strong commonwealth for future generations.”
The state house also started the 2024-25 legislative session yesterday. State Representative Jim Struzzi was sworn in for his next term of office. During this upcoming session, Struzzi will serve as Appropriations Chair for the Republican Caucus. He will also serve on the PENNVEST board and the board for Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation. This marks the start of his fourth term of office.
