Louis Yanni Jr. of Indiana, passed away at his home with his family by his side on Monday, January 6, 2025. Born in Beyer, he was the son of the late Louis Sr. and Margaret (Buffone) Yanni.
A 1963 graduate of Marion Center High School he was employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare as a Human Resources Director in the Ebensburg Center until his retirement in 2016.
A member of the Pennsylvania National Guard he was a member of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Roman Catholic Church, The Knights of Columbus Council 1481, as a third-degree knight, as well as the National Rifle Association.
Lou was an avid gardener, growing garlic that his father brought from Italy. As an outdoorsman, he enjoyed skeet shooting. Spending time with his family was most important to him.
Lou is survived by his wife Sandra Lee (Schrecengost) Yanni; children Tina (Tom) Vince of Latrobe and son LJ (Jessica Nicole) Yanni of Indiana; grandchildren Hannah Grace, Ashley Nicole, and Viviana Larue; siblings Marge Harland of Akron, Ohio, Rose Baker of Stow, Ohio, Antoinette (Dolly) McCombs, of Stow, Ohio, Louise Cox of Tallmadge, Ohio, Theresa (Ray) Rogalski of Ford City and Linda (Jerry) Grafton of Ford City; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Nick Yanni.
Friends will be received by the family on Thursday, January 9, 2025, from 3-7 PM in the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Friday, January 10, 2025, at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Paul Dressler, OFM, Cap., officiating. EVERYONE IS ASKED TO MEET AT THE CHURCH. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Sagamore.
Lou’s family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Oscar Reyna, to Annie and Jessica, to the Seventh-Floor nurses of IRMC as well as to the VNA nurses who cared for Louis.
