IUP is seeing a drop in the number of new Covid-19 cases ahead of the KCAC’s reopening to fans on Monday.
The university was notified that 12 students have tested positive for the virus between February 4th and 10th. Half of them are students who are living on-campus and the other half are off-campus students living in Indiana County. The students are following the required medical response protocol as recommended by health care professionals.
The news comes a day after the university announces that fans will be allowed to return to the KCAC for IUP Athletic Events after a two week period where IUP basketball teams played in an empty Ed Fry arena. Fans will be allowed back in for Monday’s Women’s Basketball game against Slippery Rock, but IUP will be stressing its indoor mask mandate by handing out free face masks to those who do not have them, and having people in the arena checking and reminding people to keep their face masks on properly.
