GIRLS BASKETBALL
River Valley’s girls are 16-0 after a 71-35 win over Portage. The Panthers led 31-8 after one quarter and 51-16 at the half. The starters sat for most of the second half. Ava Persichetti scored 21 for River Valley while Kenady Kitner hit four three-pointers and scored 16. Alessia LaMantia added 12.
Penns Manor walloped Conemaugh Township, 55-12. Allie Mumau scored 17 points and had 8 blocks. Alyssa Altemus had 8 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists.
JUNIOR HIGH GIRLS BASKETBALL
In the 8th Grade game, Portage beat River Valley 38-18. In the 7th grade game, the Mustangs won, 25-23.
WRESTLING
River Valley improved their record to 12-4 with a 41-18 defeat of Cambria Heights. On the mat, Chase Stuchal won by technical fall. Six matches were won by forfeit.
SWIMMING
Homer-Center’s swim teams split with Somerset at IUP yesterday. The boys are 9-1 after a slim 79-77 win. Brady Frazer and Trevor Cameron both won two events and Dan Jones and Landon Shoup each won one. Frazer set a school record in the 200 individual medley and Shoup set the record for the 100 butterfly.
The girls were edged, 89-81. Morgan Nagy and Ava King both won two races and they teamed up with Vanessa and Danielle Uher to win the 200 medley relay. Nagy, King, Vanessa Uher, and Alaina Bell also won the 400 freestyle relay.
