A former New Florence man who was arrested on drug charges in 2020 was sentenced in federal court on Wednesday to five years in prison followed by four years of supervised release for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl.
U.S. District Judge Arthur J. Schwab handed down the sentence on 28-year-old Nicholas Beard, who was arrested along with Ruby Gil during an Indiana County Drug Task Force raid on a home in the 500 block of Church Street in Indiana. Beard lived in Indiana at the time.
Authorities found more than $30,000 worth of drugs and money in the raid, including a mixture of drugs containing meth and fentanyl.
Beard has also been sentenced for other recent drug charges in Indiana County and is in fact due for Plea Court today for a January 2021 DUI case involving a controlled substance.
In November, Gil was sentenced in Indiana County Court to one to three years in prison.
