The annual United Way Soup-er Bowl was held yesterday at Levity Brewery in Indiana.
The money raised from the annual sales of soup, bread, cookie and drink goes to the annual fundraising campaign for the United Way. While a final total for yesterday’s event is not yet available, it was announced yesterday that over 900 bowls of soup were sold on Monday, raising over $11,000 in the process. United Way officials said that breaks previous records for the fundraiser. The winning dish by volume of sales was once again the beer cheese soup from C.H. Fields Craft Kitchen, selling out their entire stock of 285 servings. Second place was The Road House from Shelocta and third was 9th Street Deli’s.
The next fundraising event for the United Way will be their “Gala for the Goal” at the Chestnut Ridge Golf Resort and Conference Center in Blairsville on February 15th. The goal of this year’s campaign is to raise $888,888.
