The Pennsylvania Department of Health is reporting a serious uptick in flu-related activity.
For the week ending February 1st, officials say 21,469 cases of flu have been reported across the state, bringing the total for the year to 99,554 lab-confirmed cases of influenza. 179 flu-related deaths have also been reported.
The percentage of emergency room visits resulting in a flu diagnosis also remains high, especially in the birth to age 4 group.
While flu is spiking, RSV activity is decreasing. 33,271 cases of RSV have been reported in the state this flu season so far, an increase of 2,736 cases over the week.
For Indiana County, there have been 230 cases of flu reported in the county so far this season, along with 52 cases of RSV.
