Indiana Borough Police Chief Justin Schawl was one of 244 law enforcement officers who graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia, this week.
Schawl had been at the academy since January 5th and received a Graduate Certificate in Criminal Justice Education from the University of Virginia. On top of that, he participated in physical fitness training three-to-four days each week.
FBI Director Kash Patel delivered remarks to men and women from 48 states and Washington D.C. The class also featured law enforcement officials from 24 countries, 11 military organizations, and four federal civilian organizations.
In a statement, Schawl thanked members of Indiana Borough Council, Mayor Bill Simmons, and his family for their patience and allowing him the time to complete the course. He also showed gratitude for Lt. Eric Slovinsky and all Indiana Borough Police officers for their efforts while he was away.
