One of Indiana County’s most successful coaches is stepping down from his position.
River Valley girls’ coach Ricc Brown officially resigned from his position Friday morning following seven years leading the Blairsville Bobcats and then the River Valley Panthers.
Brown compiled a career record of 141-48, making five state playoff appearances with an appearance in the PIAA Triple-A Championship two years ago. He also won two Heritage Conference championships among six appearances at the KCAC.
He also coached AAU basketball for seven years, going 505-30 with 30 championships in stints with Sanso’s and ESP.
In a letter to the school board, Brown says he will continue rooting for River Valley and he called coaching the Panthers and Bobcats a “blessing.”
The Panthers’ season ended Wednesday night with a PIAA second-round loss to Trinity.
