Louise Diane Bokash, 94, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, March 28, 2025. She was born on February 18, 1931, in Lucernemines, the daughter of George and Anna Kosmack, formerly of Ozalj, Yugoslavia (currently Croatia). She married John Bokash on June 28, 1952, and was married to him for 37 years until his death in 1989.
Louise is survived by her daughter, Janet (Roger) Eck, Lakeland, FL; her sons, John (Pam) Bokash, Indian land, SC; Robert Bokash, Homer City; and David (Mandy) Bokash, Harmony, PA; she also leaves behind her grandchildren, Mara Kotzur, Andrew Kotzur, Lauren Alfano, April Bokash, Tanner Bokash, and Addison Bokash; her great-grandchildren, Alice Alfano and Daisy Kotzur; and her sister, Eleanor (Andy) Sisko, Wickliffe, OH.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Frank and Joe Kosmack of Homer City, and sisters, Mary Marshall of Baldwinsville, NY, and Ann Martino of Bristol, PA.
Louise graduated from Laura Lamar High School in Homer City. She worked at Sipos Camera in Homer City and Campus Sportswear in Indiana. She also managed the day-to-day operations at Bokash Welding, the family business.
Louise was a member of the Croatian Lodge 274 and Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church in Lucernemines, PA. She was active in the Altar Rosary Society and loved volunteering her time making pierogies for the church bazaar. She enjoyed her time with the Red Hat Society, line dancing, and square dancing throughout Indiana County at various functions and nursing homes. She also enjoyed nights out with family and friends polka dancing. She was an avid board and card player with her family and always had a smile on her face when she was winning everyone’s money playing 31, and Texas Hold’em. She enjoyed baking and cooking, specializing in old European and Croatian recipes. Nothing was more important to her than spending time with her children, including her eight grandchildren, especially around the holidays.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bowser Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. in Homer City. A Blessing Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Parish, Lucernemines Site. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
