The Altoona Curve won their second straight game against Akron, this time an 8-1 victory. The team racked up 10 hits and also showed patience at the plate in drawing eight walks.
After trailing 1-0 in the sixth, the Curve picked up a bases loaded walk, and a wild pitch to take the lead. In the 9th, Altoona added six more runs with Temarr Johnson singling in one, followed by two bases loaded walks, and RBI’s from Jack Brannigan, Imanol Vargas and Jase Bowen.
Wilbur Dotel allowed one run in 3 and two-thirds innings before hitting his hard pitch limit, striking out three in the process. The Curve bullpen once again shut out the Rubber ducks with Jason Woods picking up the win in relief, Cristofer Mendez holding things steady and then Nick Dombkowski picking up the save.
The two teams play again tonight with Anthony Solometo starting for Altoona.
