The Indiana Area School Board tonight will deal with a number of initiatives regarding the $32.2 million elementary school plan, which would close the Eisenhower and Horace Mann schools, replace the Ben Franklin school with a new building, and renovate the East Pike school.
The agenda tonight includes a cost estimate presentation by Massaro CM Services, which would oversee the construction of the new Ben Franklin school.
The board will also consider a number of motions that would essentially represent ether next step forward in getting the project underway…a motion to purchase insurance coverage for the building projects at a cost of $712,800, which would be offset by the contractors not having to include insurance in their bids; another motion will amend the Plancon E financial plan for the Ben Franklin school; and still another motion for the issuance of a bond worth $9.95 million for the overall project.
The board will also consider two motions Walter Schroth, stipulating that no construction contracts be signed or executed and that no additional debt or bonds be acquired until all permits for the Ben Franklin and East Pike projects are physically in hand.
The board will also hear presentations by the projects designers and others on a variety of issues, including an update o the plan design, the site plan, traffic study, insurance information and the site logistics during construction.
Tonight’s agenda includes a number of other items, including a review of the district’s “pay to participate” policy be submitted to the Academic/Extracurricular and Finance committees for re-evaluation.
