The Blairsville-Saltsburg School Board heard from members of the district’s teachers’ union about the possible separation of the two districts.
Members of the Blairsville-Saltsburg Educators Association and the Blairsville-Saltsburg Educational Support Professionals had a lot of questions about the district’s efforts to try and separate the two sides of the district. Some of the concerns union members have include job security; uncertainties with grant-funded programs, personnel and curriculum needs; the division of subsidies across both districts and others. A joint resolution was presented to the board by BSEA president Kathy Muir. The resolution had 140 signatures, and was presented to the board as a way to pass their concerns on to the state Department of Education to get the concerns addressed. Muir says once they get some answers, the process will go a bit faster.
In other business, the board approved a lease agreement with Apple computers for leasing iPad computers to the school, and they also approved purchasing a Milo robot to help students who have Autism.
