Blairsville Borough Council last night learned that a major bridge will be undergoing repairs this spring.
Borough Manager Tim Evans informed council members that PennDOT plans to repair the bridge that spans the Conemaugh River on Route 22. Work should begin sometime in April, and during construction, traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction, rather than the usual two.
In other business, council voted 4-0 to hire Berkheimer to collect delinquent per capita taxes from 2016. Residents have until April 1 to pay $5.50 at the borough office, but after April 1, they will incur a $25 penalty.
Finally, it was announced that a blood drive will be held at the Blairsville Community Center on March 17 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
