A man from Home station who was charged with theft earlier this week now faces a charge of endangering the welfare of a child.
State Police say on February 18th a passing motorist had discovered a 4-year-old boy unattended outside of his home in Home, PA. Further investigation by police showed the child was left unattended for at least an hour. The father was found, and it turned out to be Marcus Niehenke, who two days earlier was charged with theft in an incident at Wal-Mart in White Township where police say he didn’t scan about $250 worth of items at a self-checkout lane. Indiana County CYS was called in to assist in the investigation. The boy was not injured.
A criminal complaint was filed and a preliminary hearing will be pending on the charge of endangering the welfare of a child.
