A man who is facing a charge of homicide by vehicle while DUI pleaded guilty to a DUI charge in a separate case in Indiana County Court on Friday.
20-year-old Joseph Popovich of Homer City pleaded guilty to charges of DUI-Controlled Substance, DUI-Impaired ability, careless driving, possession of a small amount of marijuana and of drug paraphernalia in connection with a traffic stop by State Police on Liberty Street in Homer City in December of 2015. Popovich was ordered to pay $1000 fines along with court costs, and must spend 3 days to six months in the Indiana County Jail for those charges.
Popovich will have a criminal call hearing on March 3rd concerning charges of Homicide by vehicle while DUI and other charges connected with a crash last May that took the life of 16-year-old Homer-Center student Kai Hrabovsky. Hrabovsky was killed when he was struck by a car as he was walking along Mount Zion Road in Pine Township.
