Homer-Center school officials investigated a threat that involved the High School yesterday.
In a letter sent to district parents and posted on the district’s Facebook page, High School Principal Jody Rainey said that two students informed him of a potential threat regarding the High School on Monday. Rainey said they were able to identify the student who made the threat yesterday, and sequestered the student. State Police were called in to investigate further, and troopers along with the Indiana County District Attorney Pat Dougherty and School Officials determined the threat was not credible.
Rainey praised the two students for bringing their concerns to him, and feeling comfortable enough to do so, as it was a big help in the investigation. He also said the student involved cooperated with investigators.
Rainey stressed that the threat was not connected with Lt. Governor Mike Stack’s visit to the school on Monday, and at no time were staff or students at risk. He also reassured parents that it’s safe for their kids to go to school now and in the foreseeable future.
