Today is distribution day for the state’s 2017 liquid fuels disbursements, with Indiana County’s municipalities receiving more than $5.2 million for road and bridge maintenance.
Each of the state’s 67 counties receives funding based on the number of miles of locally-owned roads and its population. This year’s $466.2 million in funding across the commonwealth is an increase of five percent from last year.
The largest allocation in Indiana County will go to White Township, which will receive $557,956 for its 83.65 miles of local roads. The second-highest total, $366,061, is for Indiana Borough, with 34.26 miles of local roads. Rayne Township will receive $286,287. Other townships receiving more than $200,000 in liquid fuels funding include Green ($282,281); Cherryhill ($258,222); Armstrong ($256,290); Center ($242,082); Washington ($230,486); and Burrell ($222,6044).
