The average cost of a gallon of gas in Pennsylvania and in the United States continues to increase once again, with Indiana County’s gas prices also taking a big jump.
The National Average according to Triple A this morning is $4.15 a gallon. That marks a three cent increase from last week, but a nine-cent reduction from last month. The national average has gone up as the price of crude oil has once again started to increase. As of yesterday, crude oil prices were once again over $100 a barrel, settling at $102.02 a barrel. This increase has counteracted a lack of demand at the pump, which typically drives gas prices lower. Total gasoline stocks went down by 1.6 million barrels while demand decreased slightly to 8.7 million barrels a day.
Pennsylvania’s average went up eight cents over the last week to $4.28 a gallon. Last month, it was $4.31, at one of the highest points since the start of the war in Ukraine. Indiana County’s average also increased to $4.25 a gallon. As far as our region goes, Westmoreland and Armstrong counties have the lowest average at $4.21 a gallon, while Jefferson, Clearfield and Cambria Counties each report a $4.25 a gallon average.
