This week’s Military Monday honoree is Megan Conrad, formerly of Blairsville.

A graduate of Blairsville High School in 2001 and IUP in 2005, Megan Conrad was commissioned a second lieutenant, branched in military intelligence, through the IUP Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC).
Conrad graduated from the Military Intelligence Office Basic Course and was assigned to the 7th Transportation Battalion at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. She deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2006-2007 where she served as Battalion Intelligence Officer supporting convoy escort and logistical missions throughout Iraq.
Conrad redeployed to Fort Bragg with the 27th Engineer Battalion and served as Battalion Intelligence Officer in 2007 and as the Headquarters Company Executive Officer from 2007-2008. She graduated from the Military Intelligence Captain’s Career Course in 2009 and was reassigned to the 19th Engineer Battalion. She deployed from 2009-2010 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Conrad was honorably discharged in 2010 and joined the Pennsylvania Army National Guard.
Conrad’s awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terror Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, the NATO Medal, the Meritorious Unit Citation, the Army Parachutist Badge, the German Parachutist Badge, and the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge.
