Even though it will be bitterly cold today in Indiana, the Downtown Indiana St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations will go on as scheduled.
Events start at 10:00 this morning with the “Wee Lads and Lasses Leprechaun Lookalike Contest” at Spaghetti Benders in Indiana. The contest will feature prizes for funniest, best group and most authentic. All participants will be invited to march in the parade at 11:00 starting at 5th and Philadelphia Streets.
After the parade, a lot of activities will be held. The Jimmy Stewart Museum will hold a special screening of “An American Tail: Fievel Goes West”, with children admitted free with their parents. The Indiana Free Library will also host a special noon-time event with kids activities and the book “The Night Before St. Patrick’s Day”. Also at noon, there will be crafts for kids at the 700 Shop, The Book Nook, Downtown Indiana’s offices on North 7th Street, and at William and Mary gifts on South 7th Street, and Flower Gallery on Church Street will give out balloons.
The day wraps up with a performance of the Laurel Highlanders Pipe and Drum corps. They will perform at the Coney starting at 1:00.
