Cold weather tops our newscast as temperatures did not go above freezing on Saturday, and winds made it feel much colder.
An anticipated high of 22 and a windchill of -4 kept crowds out of Downtown Indiana for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. But there were several hearty souls who braved the cold for the activities in the downtown area. The weather did force one unit in the parade to cancel their appearance as the Laurel Highlanders Pipe and Drum corps did not march in the parade. They did put on their traditional after-parade performances at the Coney. Also, many of the activities connected with the St. Patrick’s Celebrations, including crafts at four downtown locations and a screening of “An American Tail: Fievel Goes West” still went off as scheduled.
By the way, the winners of the Leprechaun Lookalike contest put on by Downtown Indiana were Drake Borello for the funniest, Oliver and Cooper Jack of Indiana for the best group and Nikolai Schultheis for the most authentic.
The area is now bracing for a potentially big snowfall at the start of the week. While it will be much worse in the Eastern Parts of the State, predictions for our area are for 1-3 inches of snow tomorrow night, another 1-3 inches Tuesday in the daylight hours, and 1-3 inches more Tuesday night. The snow should ease by Wednesday, but with high winds predicted, there is the potential for drifting snow.
