UPDATE: Work on the Kimmel Road Bridge Replacement Project has been postponed until after the winter storm passes.
WHAT WE PREVIOUSLY REPORTED:
Work is scheduled to start today on the Kimmel Road Bridge Replacement Project, but PennDOT is keeping an eye on the weather.
The project is one of PennDOT’s Rapid Bridge Replacement projects to replace structurally deficient bridges throughout the state. The bridge takes Kimmel Road over Crooked Creek in Rayne Township. During the construction period, drivers will be directed to take a detour along Route 119 and Chambersville Road. That will be in place until the project is completed in June. All of the work, though, is weather dependent, and with a major snowstorm expected to hit tonight, the start of the project may be delayed.
The work is being done through a public-private partnership between PennDOT and Plenary-Walsh Keystone Partners. Plenary-Walsh will finance, design, replace and maintain the bridge for 25 years.
