Altoona lost to Erie, 2-1.
Pirates’ 2019 first round draft choice Quinn Priester made his Double-A debut and tossed three shutout innings, striking out three and giving up just one hit. Center fielder Matt Gorski’s home run accounted for the Curve’s only run. It was his fifth with the Curve after he slugged 17 with High-A Greensboro. Gorski leads the Pirates organization in homers. Unfortunately for Altoona, Gorski’s hit was one of only three on the day against Erie starter Chance Kirby and a variety of bullpen arms.
Altoona starts a six-game series in New Hampshire tomorrow night. The Curve will see some re-shaping of the pitching staff before tomorrow’s game. The Pirates have promoted pitchers Travis McGregor and Noe Toribio from Altoona to Indianapolis.
