The average cost of a gallon of regular gas continues its slow, but sure, decent across multiple levels at the start of this week.
Triple-A reports the national average cost of a gallon of gas this morning is $3.96 a gallon, which is down a penny from Saturday, 10 cents over the last week and 62 cents over the past month. One year ago, gas prices across the U.S. were $3.18 a gallon. Consumer demand remains at 8.54 million barrels a day, but the cost of crude oil increased by $1.43 towards the end of last week, marking a cost of $91.93.
Pennsylvania’s average also decreased to $4.29 a gallon, marking a near one-and-a-half cent drop since Saturday. It’s also a nine cent drop over the last week and a 42 cent drop over the past month. One year ago, the average cost of gas across Pennsylvania was $3.29 a gallon.
Indiana County is tied with neighboring Cambria, Clearfield, and Armstrong Counties with a $4.29 a gallon average. Jefferson County’s average is the lowest in the region at $4.23 a gallon, followed by Westmoreland County at $4.26 a gallon.
Across the state, Potter County still holds the highest average at $4.45 a gallon while Wyoming and Perry County tied with the lowest average at $4.08 a gallon.
Gas stations in Indiana, Homer City, Blairsville and Clymer check in this morning with gas price averages ranging from $4.19 to $4.34 a gallon. Gasbuddy.com reports that Townsend Gas and Oil in Lucernemines has the lowest gas price in the area at $4.09 a gallon.
