IUP kicked off the 2022-2023 academic year earlier today with a program at Fisher Auditorium.
During the program, IUP President Dr. Michael Driscoll said that while the University is seeing a decrease in the total overall student population, there is a silver lining in the fact that the class of first year students continues to grow in size.
Driscoll also mentioned that the increase in Funding that IUP received from the state will allow the university to be more flexible and creative in how the University deals with financial hardships.
To end the program, University Senate Chairman Dr. David Piper brought in the IUP Marching Band to play “Amazing Grace” in the auditorium. He said that the song’s significance to the band was the reason why he wanted it played for those in attendance today.
