The Indiana Theater in Downtown Indiana has hosted many different events over the years, ranging from productions of the Indiana Players to movies and even some churches were tenants of the building and used it as a worship space. But now, the space is getting ready to be transformed into a concert venue.
Organizers are getting ready to hold a concert series at the theater in the 600 block of Philadelphia Street. Charles Olson is organizing the effort to bring bands into the theater, but is also working to get the theater into shape to hold concerts once again.
Olson has started to advertise the first show of the planned 10-show series. The first show will feature Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers with opening act Gene The Werewolf. Olson said he is leaning into his Pittsburgh rock connections to bring acts to Indiana.
Olson said other concerts in the future include Jim Donovan and the Sun King Warriors and possibly a singer/songwriter night where a group of performers get together to tell the stories behind their songs.
