CROSS COUNTRY
Three Indiana High cross country runners qualified for the state championship meet in Hershey following prolific performances at the WPIAL Class AA Championships yesterday at Cal U.
The girls finished 7th out of 30 teams and were led by freshman Addy Fry, who punched her ticket to Hershey with a 26th place finish out of 203 runners. Following her was Rachel Gill, who took 33rd with a time of 21:25. Chloe Hain came in 42nd, Emmy Davis in 48th, Belinda Lin in 56th, Kaylee Onder in 87th, and Maddy Bauer in 135th.
The boys placed 9th out of 32 teams and were led by state qualifiers Jon Berzonsky, who took 18th place out of 231 runners, and Seth Weaver, who took 26th. Jacob Gill placed 63rd, Will Berzonsky took 72nd, Tommy Kauffman placed 91st, Brennan Huff was 100th and Jaiden Myers was 127th.
The state meet will take place November 5th.
VOLLEYBALL
The Indiana High girls’ volleyball team bowed out of the WPIAL Class AAA playoffs after falling to Thomas Jefferson, 3-1, Wednesday night.
After the Jaguars took the first set, 25-16, Indiana rebounded with a 25-23 second set win. Thomas Jefferson answered by taking the next two sets.
Abbie Huey had 24 kills with 10 digs and a service ace. Katie Kovalchick had six kills, two aces and three blocks. Emily Madey had 34 assists.
Indiana finishes the season with a 10-6 record.
DISTRICT VI BOYS SOCCER
The United Lions took down the Bishop Carroll Huskies, 4-3, in the second round of the District VI Boys Class A soccer playoffs yesterday. They now face top seeded Richland on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
