IUP’s office of student affairs has created a new group dedicated to engaging students during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The new Student Support and Engagement Team has been working on contacting students since spring break to offer support and guidance. In a letter from Tom Segar, the vice-president for student affairs, if a student has been found in need during these check-in conversations, they have been referred to the proper section of the university, whether it be for tutors, emergency funds, disability access or any other area. The team has also helped with the transition from face-to-face student programming to virtual engagement activities, including taking some of the educational programming and entertainment activities and adapting them to a virtual format.
Segar encourages any students to nominate others who might benefit from the service to send the student’s name and any additional information to iup-hawks@iup.edu.
