U.S. Attorney Scott Brady has announced the dismantling of a drug operation that channeled crack cocaine and methamphetamine from Philadelphia to Indiana County.
Two criminal complaints detail the arrests of seven suspects: 25-year-old Jelahn Williams, 28-year-old Malik Byers, and 22-year-old Dayton Melton, who are all from Philadelphia; 24-year-old Isaiah Daniels-Wheeler of Elkins Park, Montgomery County; 26-year-old Ahmed Doumbia and 24-year-old Romello Johnson-Holland of Indiana; and in a separate complaint, 23-year-old Tamir Washington-Jenkins of Indiana.
Washington-Jenkins is accused of selling about 55 grams of methamphetamine for $1,600 last October 10th to undercover members of the Southwest Pennsylvania Safe Streets Task Force.
The other complaint reveals that between January 27th and April 18th this year, the Indiana suspects – Williams, Byers, and Doumbia – made multiple trips to Philadelphia where they bought large quantities of crack cocaine and brought it back to co-called “trap locations”, including the apartment of Johnson-Holland. They then distributed the drugs throughout the area to drug purchasers and street-level dealers.
Brady said the investigation required a “major, coordinated effort” with Indiana County District Attorney Bob Manzi and law enforcement agencies. Manzi credited the “ongoing partnerships between local, state, and federal law enforcement and said yesterday’s arrests of seven suspects “should send a clear message to drug dealers thinking about setting up ship in Indiana County: get out!”
The investigation involved at least eight law enforcement agencies.
