At some point, hopefully this summer, baseball will be back, and it very well could be that the first action you’ll see will be on the Little League ball fields in local communities such as Indiana. When that happens, the kids will be playing on three of the nicest fields you can find at the Indiana Little League Complex, now sporting brand new turf fields.
It was a labor of love for the Colonial and Chuck Spadafora Family Fund, which provided a very large portion of the $275,000 cost. The family fund donated $100,000, with another $100,000 coming from Bryan Force, president of Indiana Little League. His company, East American, Inc., coordinated much of the work on the newly-turfed fields. The remaining $75,000 came from the Indiana Little League Foundation.
Chuck Spadafora passed away last August, but he was well known for his support of Indiana Sports, and CJ Spadafora said that the idea came from watching games at the field.
Chuck Spadafora does have a strong connection with the field as Little League was one of his first loves. In fact, he threw the first-ever no-hitter at Herman Harris Field close to 70 years ago.
