Hall of Fame NBA center Wes Unseld died early this morning at his home. He was 74. The news was posted by the Washington Wizards. Unseld played for the franchise, which was then known as the Bullets, for thirteen seasons starting in 1968-69 in Baltimore and then in Washington. For 42 years he held the distinction of being the youngest MVP in NBA history, at age 22.
He also coached the Bullets for seven seasons after his retirement as a player.
Unseld’s family says he died of several health conditions, including a recent battle with pneumonia.
