The Indiana Area School Board will meet tonight, with the re-hiring of Greg Lezanic as athletic director on the agenda.
Other items up for consideration on a brief agenda tonight include the hiring of a school nurse and two elementary teachers, and a contract with the Community Guidance Center for a student assistance program.
The Academic and Extracurricular Committee is also scheduled to meet tonight. They will be working on the school district’s Health & Safety Plan and reviewing the state’s “Reopening PA Document for Schools”.
Other items before the committee are the state-required Athletics Safety Plan, a detailed document using national guidelines for conducting high school sports. The information includes safety procedures, identification of high-risk, moderate-risk, and low-risk sports, and protocols for operating sports programs under the state’s red, yellow, and green phases.
The committee will discuss the hiring of coaches, payment plans for coaches in the event their sport is canceled, and what to do if it’s determined that the district cannot field a competitive team in a particular sport.
The committee will also take up the issue of the Foreign Exchange Program. The district in January approved a student from Spain for the next school year. Tonight’s discussion will center on whether or not to allow any more or to place the program on hold for a year due to the pandemic.
