A robotics club out of the Marion Center School District is getting ready to head to Texas after receiving a top honor at a recent regional competition.
The robotics club recently earned “Best Rookie Team” at the FIRST Robotics Competition in Pittsburgh. While the Marion Center team did not win the competition, its award for best rookies earned them a spot at the upcoming international competition in Houston, Texas.
Club advisor and teacher Robert Weiss said that the competition will feature teams from all over the world. He describes what makes the FIRST Robotics competition.
Risecen McGuinness said it was a lot more competitive than what people might think.
McGuinness and six others along with Weiss leave today for Houston. Even if they don’t win, they will also get the chance to work with other teams from around the world to help them to victory.
