The Indiana County Commissioners today accepted a financial assistance award from the federal government to help with the county’s revolving loan fund.
The $1.23 million will be used for a new revolving loan fund for county-based small businesses to respond to the Coronavirus pandemic, and it comes from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration. Byron Stauffer of the County Office of Planning and Development talked about the steps that businesses should take to apply for these low-interest loans.
The Commissioners also made it clear that this is not to be in competition with banks, but the loan can be used to supplement what a bank might provide. Stauffer added there are still some available grant programs for businesses. Info on those grants are also available through the Office of Planning and Development.
In other business, the board approved a change order for the Alice Paul House project, with the elimination of the gable and trim work on the front of the building. It will save the county $2,005.81 on the project overall.
