On Tuesday night, Indiana Borough Council approved putting a face mask ordinance up for advertisement, but what that ordinance will contain is not known as of yet.
By an 8-3 vote, council authorized solicitor Neva Stoller to advertise an ordinance, but that advertisement will not happen until August 25th. Between now and then, according to Council President Peter Broad, members of council will have time to offer their input on the ordinance.
During the public comment session, some spoke out in favor of and some spoke against the original draft ordinance that was proposed, but Indiana Chamber of Commerce President Mark Hilliard said that the best thing may be to wait and gauge how the business community would feel about it.
Hilliard even offered up the services of the chamber to assist the borough.
The proposed ordinance will be discussed at the public safety meeting on Thursday, August 20th. It will once again go before the full board at their agenda prep meeting on September 8th.
